Have Correcr data: Benjamin Hill Peed (1 Jan 1859 - 8 Jan 1923) (1860, 1900, 1910, & 1920 Census) born Pleasant Hill, Talbot Co. GA, lived in Milners Cross Roads & Waverly Hall, Harris Co. GA, married Willie Brown (Nov 1863 - 21 Jun 1930) (1870, 1900, 1910, 1920, & 1930 Census), born in AL, Dawson, Terrell Co. GA, & in Milners Cross Roads, Waverly Hall, Harris Co. GA
Benjamin Hill Peed was born 1 January 1859 in Pleasant Hill, Talbot Co, GA (US 1860 Census). He is 1860, 1900, 1910, and 1920 Census records, some of which give different birth years. 1900 Census lists his age at “39,” meaning he was born two years later in 1861. 1920 Census gives his age as “68,” putting his birth in 1852, seven years earlier than 1859. Benjamin Hill was the son of Henry L. Peed (1822 - Aft Jun 1900) and his first wife Nancy Anne Cook (1821 - Bef 1892).
Did not know Ben's brother married. Here is my data: Henry T. Peed (1847-1922) Ben Peed’s brother born in 1847, was twelve years older than Ben. Henry Peed never married ; lived near Ben’s family according to grandson, Paul Harris who personally knew him. Henry Peed’s nickname was “Bear.”
Here is data on Henry T. Peed: (Oct 1820 / 1827 - Aft Jun 1900) Civil War Confederate veteran born in NC(1850, 1860 & 1900 Census), lived in Pleasant Hill, Talbot Co. GA (created in 1827 from parts of Harris, Marion & Macon counties), married #1 wife Nancy Anne Cook (1822 - Bef 1892) (1850 & 1860 Census) born in Talbot Co. GA, from Pleasant Hill, Talbot Co. GA, Henry Peed earned The Distinguished Service award in the Company ‘E’, 9th Infantry Regiment Georgia Volunteers C.S.A. He was a talented musician who played the trumpet and fiddle.
First wife Nancy Cook died prior to 1892, when Henry Peed married his second wife Missura LNU (last name unknown). They were married for “8” years in the 1900 Census.
Please correct my mistakes.
I also have details of murder trial in Peed Family, if you would like to know. I will not print it here out of respect of the descendants. Thanks.
