I've attempted to search the Peebles Genforum regarding a Jesse Peebles without success. It is said that he was the son of a William Peebles born ca 1700. That Jesse Peebles had two own brothers by the names of Drury and Samuel Peebles. (Hopefully someone has these men in their trees. They were born between 1730 and 1740.) The following is what I have for Jesse Peebles born ca 1745 in either Prince George or Sussex Co. VA: Sussex Co. VA Marriages: 8 July 1785. Jesse Peebles and Scota Mitchell, widow of John Mitchell, daughter of William Stewart. Surety: William Chambliss. Page 38 Scotia Stuart (Stewart) married first: 5 June 1779. John Mitchell and Scota Stewart, dau. William Stewart. Surety Augustine Claiborne. Witnesses: John Stewart and William Cocke. (Page 24) Sussex Co. VA Now, in the 1834 era I find a Jesse Peebles in Independence Co. AR. Was this Jesse who married Scota Stuart (Stewart) of Sussex Co. VA? Or was this a son of Jesse and Scota? Surely would appreciate your help in understanding this. For sure one son of the Stuarts of Sussex Co. VA did move to Jackson Co. AR which is the next county over from Independence.
