“Dora Wilson Pearson was born Oct. 4, 1861, and departed this life June 28, 1937, being at the time of her death 75 years, 6 months and 24 days old. She was married to H.L. Pearson, April 11, 1883, who preceded her to the grave more than three years ago. To this union were born 9 children, of whom all are still living. The children are: Mrs. Minnie Harrison, Mrs. Harve Patterson, Mrs. Clarence Harrison, Ernest and Leona Pearson, all of Tellico Plains; Mrs. Luke Miller and Mrs. Alfred Sylvester of Athens; J.W. Pearson of Knoxville, and Art Pearson of Alabama; one sister, Mrs. D.L. Hunt; three brothers, Ed Wilson of Tellico Plains; C.A. Wilson of Oklahoma, and Obie Wilson of Illinois.

She professed faith in Christ while very young and joined the M.E. Church, in later years moving her membership to the Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member until death. Mother was deprived of the privilege of attending church for more than two years on account of bad health, but she often expressed her desire to attend church worship and prayed daily to regain her health that she might be able to do so; but God in His great wisdom, who knows best, saw fit to call her home where all will be love and happiness.

Mother was so sweet during her sickness, always cheerful, welcoming everyone with a smile who visited her. To know her was to love her.

Funeral services were held at Piney Grove Church, June 30, by Rev. W.N. Cagle, after which her remains were placed by the side of those of her husband in the cemetery nearby, under a mound of flowers, to await the Resurrection.” ---Written by one who loved her.

Grandmother had been in declining health for three years, but had been confined to her bed only a few days previous to her death. She was loved by all who knew her. She was always cheerful around her home, making everyone feel at home; she was always active in church work. It was hard to giver her up, but God knows best. Grandmother is not dead; she is only sleeping, beside Grandfather, who preceded her to the grave three years ago. Although she cannot come back to us, we can go to her---and may we each one that is not prepared, live to meet her again.

Funeral services were held at Piney Grove Church, Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock by Rev. W.N. Cagle. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband to await the Resurrection.” ---Written by a granddaughter, Mrs. Burl Holder, Elizabethton, Tennessee.
