Harold, Thanks for your reply. I also have the census records but nothing for 1870 census. Wish I knew when and where Hatty died. Hatty was the daughter of James Elder found in the 1850 census for Jackson county, Iowa. Her sister Emma Elder married Thomas Peacock and eventually moved to Sac county, Iowa. Her other sister Betsey married William Dubay. Hatty's grandfather was John Elder who was a school teacher and lived in Warren county, PA , then Venango county, PA. and eventually moved to Iowa around 1840 and died not long after. The only children I know of for John Elder (wife unknown) are James (Hatty's father) and Hatty (my great great great grandmother). James married Naomi Sticks and had Betsey, Hatty, Sarah, Jane, James and Emma. Hatty was named after her aunt. Hatty ( my g-g-great grandmother) married Daniel Harrington and they had Charles, Mary, Helen, James ( my g-great grandfather), Candance, Hetty, George and Mary. James Elder moved to Iowa like his father John but Hatty Elder Harrington stayed in Forest county, PA where she died. The last census record I find for James Elder (Hatty's father) is the 1860 census for Battle Ax county, Wisc. Listed with him are children James and Emma. Would love any added info you might have on them and Cyrus. Thank you! |
