How strange to find a part of our history, referred to as something different. Guess you never know how it will affect nearby peoples. Am searching for information on the 85th regiment of foot that arrived in Upper Canada, London District in fall and winter of 1838 to quell the rebellion. John Beacroft/Beecroft was in the regiment, married Eliza Ann Mills in St Thomas Ontario ( just south of London). They had a baby born in March 1840, it died in Jan 1842 ( all in London Ontario). Eliza Ann was in Brooklyn NY by June 1842 and another child was born there. There is approx 5 1/2 yr gap before she gets pregnant again so we are assuming John was away somewhere, as after that there was a baby every 2 yrs. Am trying to find out why she was in NY, who she lived with and where John could have been all those years. Any ideas where to look for any of this info?
