Someone sent my husband a family tree on a Jackson Pannell that first served in the Civil War for the CSA. From the letter sent by this family member that accompanied the family tree, this Jackson Pannell returned home to North Georgia to find that his house had been burned by the Northern army. He supposedly said, "If the CSA can't protect me, then I will join the USA army" or something like that. He moved to Tennessee after the war. He returned to North Georgia just before he died and I understand he is buried there.
If this is the ancestor you are looking for, let me know and I will see if my husband can locate that family tree that was sent to us.
Thanks, Wanda Pannell
