Goodness me, Norma! You have a lot of catching up to do, haven't you? I started in with PAF v.2.3 if I remember correctly, so I haven't used v.1. Because of the vast difference between 4 and 1, I would suggest that you install v.4, then create a GEDCOM of the data you have in your v.1 and load it into v.4. That way, you will have retained your present program and data, and can see how it comes out in v.4. The end result will depend on how you have entered data in v.1. You will find that you will need to do a considerable amount of editing, as v.4 allows so much more detail than you would have been permitted to enter in v.1 (I presume the format in v.1 was similar to later v.2+ - i.e. four fields for places, and limited to 16 letters). Hope this is of some help?
