When I find a census entry for a family I create a source for it and include the full text then create a census event for each member of the family and cite that source.
Does anyone else do it this way? The reason I adopted this approach is because for any person I wanted to be able to see the complete family because seeing just the entry for one person was not very meaningful. By storing the text in a source I only had to enter it once and it does take any more space than necessary in the database.
The problem is I'm finding it tedious with the amount of work involved. For every person I have to add an event fill in the year and place then cite the source. Which is a lot of repetitive mouse-clicking. Is there a way, for example to make the 1881 census event global so I don't have to create it every time? Any other ideas on making this easier? Has anyone paid for a commercial program because of this?
