Bill thanx for your response. Does "register book" mean approx the same thing as "modified register"? Sounds like it, and i did many of those with the DOS version of Genbook. It's just that i decided it's time to get away from PAF2.31 before old dos programs stop working under new versions of windows.
The Genbook website you quoted, yes, that's the one. It claims to be able to read PAF4 data files, so i assumed that meant a later version of Genbook than Genbook 7 for DOS. But i could be mistaken.
But now i'm certainly going to check out the capabilities of PAF5.2 for producing Register books -- that is precisely what i need to do, register books.
To upgrade from PAF2.31, i need to use PAF4, which fortunately i downloaded from Salt Lake before it was removed -- at least i think it was removed, since i can no longer find it. ... Then use PAF5.2 to import the PAF4 files.
I am jotting down all the apps you mentioned Bill. I did just buy RootsMagic based on the info in their website and on buyer reviews. But the register book is my main concern.. . I imagine PAF and/or RM5 produces an RTF file, not a Word Perfect file like Genbook did.
