OK here are my drives:
Local Disk - (C:)
Devices with remobable storgage
3 1/2 Floppy (A:)
DVD-RW Drive (E:)
DVD Drive (D:)
Removable Disks (F:), (G:),(H:), and (I:) listed seperately
If I had accepted PAF's offer to add drive D:\ do you think I would later be given a choice. I have a stack of 650 MB disks. If I added the C:\ as choice of input would a GEDCOM produced on Drive D:| then be accepted instead of A:\ as an option?
I only have a couple DVD-RW Drive disks so not a good choice for backup. I just got all this stuff when I bought my Dell as did not know what my future requirements would be and wanted to cover all bases.
Should my next step be to go back to tools and preferences and when prompted add Drive D:\ as an addition to A:\ for export? I would then have to add Local Disk C:\ as an additon to A:\ for import. At this time I only have Drive A:\ listed for export and import. If you think this is correct I will accept PAF's offer to add the drives to the respective areas when prompte.
Even after I deleted A:\ for export and import, I returned to backup feature and it activated my A:\ drive -- I guess because no other option has been given, even though I had deleted A:\ in both export and import fields.
Boy, does this show my ignorance but logic tells me it might work as you say.
