Maybe check firstly that there is no problem with the database itself. Create a backup with a new name and then run Check/Repair 3 or 4 times to see if it says the data is OK. Then create another backup.
If it is working properly now, I wouldn't worry.
If the problem remains:
1. Export all the data to a gedcom file
2. Uninstall PAF (do not omit this step)
3. Install PAF again
4. Create a new empty PAF database with a new name
5. Import the gedcom
6. Run Check/Repair
7. Make a new backup and store a copy off-site
This process will fix the vast majority of PAF database problems and assure that your work is kept safe.
Let us know how things went.
