I use Rootsmagic for my primary database. However, I send GEDCOMs to my family members, most of whom who use PAF 5. The problem I have is when I create a GEDCOM from Rootsmagic, when that file is upload in PAF the import listing file has anywhere from 4-600 errors.
I get errors like "unexpected Object" refering to a jpg file I have in my Rootsmagic. However, I use the same multimedia sub directory to store any images I attach to my RootsMagic file so why doesn't paf find those same directories?
I also get warnings of custom events added instructing me to edit the event to add missing fields. How do I tell what fields I need to add? and Does PAF import the field names from the GEDCOM so I can find them or do I need to create a new event?
One error I get repeatdly is one that says "PAF cannot store more than one name per individual" What does this mean and how do I fix it?
Any pointers or instructions anyone can share would be much appreciated. I really want to be able my files with my family so they have my complete research without it being lost from various translation errors between two different generation programs.
Thank you. And by the way, Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!
