I ran the check/repair on a very large file (had never run it before) and it came up with 97 errors. I printed off the page with the report, and most of them say "fixed".
However, at the bottom it said this:
The file contains errors. We recommend that you restore the
file from a clean backup if you have one. Otherwise, Personal Ancestral File can try to fix some problems but a loss of data is possible. If the repaired file is still unsatisfactory, restore the file from a clean backup.
When I ran Check/Repair a second time, it asked me if I wanted to replace the existing file that had been checked..I said yes...and got the same report but now roughly 100 errors, and again, a list that said they were fixed.
I am currently playing with a back up copy, but I would like to know why I had so many errors, and why they increased when I ran it a second time. When I just ran 'check' I got over 600 errors. I don't want to continue until I understand more about Check/Repair and I don't want to lose my data.
I obviously don't have a clean back up copy since I had so many errors in the back up I am working on. Hope somebody can steer me to some answers so I don't mess up my files. I have had no error messages and everything looks good. Pat
