Thanks for your reply, Ray. I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. That's exactly what I was wanting to obtain, someone that had been there, done that.
Since I posted, I purchased a product called RootsMagic and have been trying to learn about it and see how it compares with PAF. It carries the publishing part further without having to go to a word processor, but does not allow some things that PAF does allow. So I'm still trying to decide. I wondered about TMG so I'm glad to hear what you had to say about that. I had come to the conclusion that it probably was too powerful for what I needed. When you take it to a word processor, I was afraid the indexing would not be as good. I was really hoping to find "one" program that would take me all the way from text to publishable product and maybe that just isn't available without massaging the data in some other program. The RootsMagic only allows one picture per person and I would like to use more. So to do that, go to a word processor is the advice, also. I have the data in PAF and am seeing about importing it into RootsMagic and will see how far I get with it and then make the decision, I guess.
Again, thanks so much for your reply.
