I have a program with over 12,000 names which I would like to split. One large family branch turns out not to belong to me, and I want to put it into a new PAF file and then delete it from my master file to reduce the size.
I made a back up copy to work from;
I chose the eldest ancestor in the file I want to move; I clicked export and then partial and select; in the drop down box I selected 'descendants'; in the list with the >> marks, however, I see people that should not belong to that family, and I know I have not connected the two. When I try to deselect the family ancestor who should not be there, the whole list clears.
I have read the help section and also the files here on Genforum, but I am still stuck. I don't want to do anything but put this wrong tree into a gedcom that I can move to a fresh PAF and get that tree away from my correct people, but I am totally stumped with the extra people and I can't figure out the filters past the basics. I hope someone can tell me where I am missing the directions. pat
