A Gedcom file is actually an ASCII text file so it is possible to open it in Word. However to make any sense of the data you must use a program such as PAF or FTM which can understand the codes associated with each record and convert them back into a database. Probably the best thing your friend can do is to download PAF 5 and use that. Regards, Graham |
