I have a somewhat similar problem. The database works fine in PAF 4 except that when I run Check/Repair I get the following error messages:
Checking Event Types:
61 records.
Event type 'Notes:' is missing the verb construct
Event type 'Notes:' is missing the place preposition
Event type 'Notes:' is missing the abbreviation
Event type 'AKA:' is missing the verb construct
Event type 'AKA:' is missing the place preposition
Event type 'AKA:' is missing the abbreviation
Event type 'MARR' is missing the verb construct
Event type 'MARR' is missing the place preposition
Event type 'MARR' is missing the abbreviation

However it doesn't say how to find which records have these errors and how to correct them.

There are 11,869 records in this database. All the backups are either badly out of date or else have the same errors.

On this same database, PAF 5 reports:
Checking Event Types:
65 records.
Event type 'Notes:' is missing the abbreviation
Event type 'AKA:' is missing the abbreviation
Event type 'MARR' is missing the abbreviation

I have tried exporting the database as a PAF 2 gedcom and importing it into an empty database, which solves some of the problems but I still have these:
Checking Event Types:
59 records.
Event type 'MARR' is missing the verb construct
Event type 'MARR' is missing the place preposition
Event type 'MARR' is missing the abbreviation

Another problem is that the links to the photos are lost when dropping back to PAF 2 format.

I presume that the missing items are parameters needed by database scripts, but I don't know how to access the scripts in order to edit them.

Can you help me? Even telling me how to identify the defective records would be a big help.
