I went to FamilySearch, Product Support, PAF 5, Questions Organized by Topics, Error Messages.
Q. When I run Check/Repair, it shows a lot of pointer errors. The program says these errors are fixed, but they are not. How can I fix them permanently?
A. Export the entire database to a GEDCOM file, and then import it into a new Personal Ancestral File database. You can eliminate many pointer problems by doing this.
I did this and it got rid of the pointer errors that I had. It also renumbered all my RINS and MRINS and as a result I don't get pointer errors any more. It seems like a good thing to do from time to time if you have been doing a lot of merging and deleting.
