Thanks for your help. We are using Version 18.104.22.168. It looks like the Match and merge feature is present and there is a check box to allow automatic replacement, but the check box is "grayed out" when "names that sound alike" or "exact name" matches are selected and is only enabled when AFN or unique record serial numbers are selected. Even when the box is active and checked, no automatic replacements are made. As a test, I created a file consisting entirely of two identical individuals and used the match/merge feature. With exact spelling or soundex enabled, I could not check the auto replace option, but the duplicate entries were detected. When I selected the AFN or unique record choices, I could select auto replace, but the duplicate entries were not detected.
It looks like I can either detect duplicate entries or replace them, but not both. Surely the people who wrote the program woudl have detected such an obvious Catch 22. Wouldn't they?
