PAF Companion can be run by itself, or called from PAF.

In stand alone mode, it finds your PAF files and makes them available to open to the same root person that PAF would open with.

I usually don't call it from within PAF, so I can't tell you how it comes up in that mode. Once it's running, the toolbar displays the overall catagories, i.e. ancestors and descendants, and clicking on one brings up a small display of available report types, then you just choose what you want.

A free evaluation version is available from the same LDS download page as PAF. In evaluation mode, it will only display one page of the report, if memory serves me correctly, and it won't let you print. If you like it, you can call the LDS 800 order number and pay the $13.50 and they'll give you a code number to enter to unlock the full program capability.

I've used it a number of times to generate Ahnentafel to send to my relatives. And like the report generators in PAF, you can create an index of the people in the Ahnentafel.
