I have been using Personal Ancestral File since it first came available in 1989 I think. I have run into many people who love PAF and others who think it stinks. Although I have bought another program to to use also, PAF is my main genealogy program. I only use the other program to add pictures to my genealogy. I personally think that it is the individual who is usnig the program and what that person needs that should decide what program should be bought. There are user groups out there for a lot of the genealogy programs, check out a few and some members may be willing to let you take a look at their programs. Find the program that suits your needs. Once you have been doing genealogy and your program you may find that an additional program may be needed. I don't think any one program offers it all.
