In the Macintosh version of PAF, click on the File menu, go to Preferences. Click on the dot where it says "Select Font for..." "Screen Editing". The font for Screen Editing should be something like "Geneva". If you have chosen a proportional font (like Times New Roman), the notes will not appear properly and there will be gaps. Once you change the font, manually correct one note so it looks good, exit the program, come back in and see if that corrected it. The PAF 3.0 notes problem is completely unrelated to this PAF 2.3.1 notes problem.
