Thomas Pace (m. Cebelle Mathews) left a will mentioning son William, among others. This will was proved in Halifax Co, NC, May 1795. This son William Pace is said to have married Clare or Clary Pullen, daughter of William Pullen (will proved Halifax Co Feb 1795). Is there any evidence to substantiate this marriage? Clary Pullin is named in her father's will by her maiden name, so apparently she was still single then. I see that this question has been raised before, in this forum and also on the Rootsweb Pace mailing list, but no one has ever come up with any record evidence to show that the marriage ever took place. I suspect this marriage was probably somebody's theory which has been picked up and repeated without ever having any basis in fact. Happy to be corrected, if there is evidence. James Blair |
