Researching Robert Smith, born 1706 in Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. Married to Bettie Maxwell. Children: Robert, born 1732; Elizabeth, 1733; Mary, 1734; and Thompson, about 1750(big gap in years).
Probably migrated to colonies between 1735 -1745...Mary married John Peden in Montgomery County Virginia in 1756. Thompson was thought to have been born in New Jersey and was on the tax roles in Oxford Township, Sussex County, NJ in 1773. Thompson served with Robert Laning's Company in Bucks County, PA in last of the year 1782.
Robert may have settled in either Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Virginia.
