If you go to the PA State Archives keep in mind you can make only 10 birth and death certificate requests per day. Of course if someone goes with you they can request 10 as well (10 per person per day). I strongly suggest going through the indices before going. You need the certificate number anyway and it will save you time by getting the numbers before you go.
The advantage of waiting for the records to be put in a database is that you would be able to search by more than just the deceased person's name. The database is supposed to be searchable by parents' names including the mother's maiden name, data of birth, location, etc as well as variable selling. The one drawback that concerns me a great deal is how well they extract the data. Mistakes are always made and Ancestry makes plenty of them.
