"Captn Joseph Griffiths of the navy [donated] £5.5s." to building a meeting house for Baptists in 1764 in Caerleon (Monmouthshire, Wales) according to chapel records.
Another 1764 donor was John Griffiths of Caerleon (1722-1791) and after 1777 of Penwenallt Cards. Bd. Llandygwyd who gave ten pounds (fa.= John Griffiths of Pontypool to Pennsylvania 1759 then became a judge in New York and d. & bd. in Kingsbury New York, 1774, mo. Margaret nee Williams of Llantarnam, d. ? buried in Caerleon).
I would love to know more of Captn. Joseph Griffiths of the navy and what, if any, was the connection. Please help
