I'm in need of some help...this gentleman is my brick wall and I'm running out of ideas. Another pair of eyes would be great. I'm trying to find the parents of William Avery.
Here is the information that I know to be fact via Census records for William Avery and his children.
Name: William Avery
Married: Clorinda Bailey in 1842
Resided in: Rutland Township, Tioga County, PA according to 1850, 1860 and 1870 US Census Records
Died: 1872 in Rutland County Township, Tioga County, PA.
He had 9 children with Clorinda. In order of birth: Martha and Mary (twins), Richard, George William (listed as Gowan on some Census records), Frank C, Menzo Ellsworth, Waldo Wallace, James W and Violette May.
Here are the things that I am trying to find out or to help me find his parents:
Birth Year: 1800-1812 via Census Records
Birth State: RI, NY, DE, PA via Census Records for William Avery as well as those of his children
Ancestry.com public trees had his father as being either a Caleb or Nathan Avery - I can't confirm or deny these claims
Does anyone see anything that I've overlooked that would help me figure out who is father would have been? Any suggestions as to where I should look next?
Thanks for any help.
