It is possible that "weinheimer" was the surname of the original immigrant. Many immigrants changed the name of spelling wanting to appear more "American". Espcially those with germanic surnames. Of course, it there are the ever-present mis-spellings of census takers, too! One of my german surnames has 25 mis-spellings in censuses and there are 4 current spellings of the original name.
