Glynda, I agree there is much evidence that William C Anderson of Brownwood simply claimed to be Bloody Bill Anderson, for reasons known only to himself. Modern research, not available at the time he made that claim in 1924, has proven he was not.
One person who claims he has proven he was the actual Bloody Bill, uses an 1860 census record as proof, due to a middle initial of T he says was added later to the actual census page. What that person doesn't understand is that those census records were not available to the public, until they were put on microfische, then later microfilm. Today, they are held for 72 years before being made public, for privacy issues.
It is wonderful that you have those old photos, Jenny Meek, wife of John, looks very much Native American to me, have you checked into that?
