Noble Owsley was born about 1805 in Claiborne County, TN, the son of John Owsley (1783-1811) and his wife Rachel Johnson. Noble was 1st married c1826 to Naomi Cook (1807-1857) by whom he had at least 11 children. His 2nd wife, whom he married in 1867, was Mrs. Angeline Ashton, who bore him one son, Richard (1868-1922). The Owsleys lived in Schuyler Co., IL in 1830, Grainger Co., TN in 1840, McDonough Co., IL by 1850 (recorded on that census as Noal Ostley), then moved to Missouri in 1876. His son, Richard, returned to La Harpe, McDonough Co., IL in 1891 and died there. Many of the family were buried in Old Bedford Cemetery, McDonough County.
