I am hoping that you, or another Osgood descendant can help me. I have been trying to determine the ancestors of one SIMEON S. OSGOOD, who was born in Vt. and was 24 on a 1845 military roster. On a later 1851 roster, he is 32, and was born in Fairhaven, VT. According to his daughter Susan Margaret Osgood Whitmore's information on the Iowa State 1925 Census, he was born in NY, and was married to Kathryn Neal in Pittsburgh, PA. The daughter Susan was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1852, and family tradition was that the mother died shortly after her daughter's birth. Susan was raised by an Aunt who had moved from NY to Illinois; Susan md. Myron John/John Myron Whitmore in Kendall Co., IL 22 Oct 1872. While looking for Simeon S. Osgood' ancestors, I found one entry on the internet that gave Simeon Osgoods death as 12 June 1858, and his father as Simeon Osgood and mother Sophia Scott. The father Simeon Osgood's father was listed as Aaron Osgood. I would really like to find definite proof that the above parents are correct etc. Looking forward to hearing more.
