Ella, 27, 1517 SE Lafayette St, both Portland Oregonian, August 26, 1958 ARREST FOLLOWS CHECK CASHING A 45 year old sheet metal worker was jailed Monday night after an arrest by a postal inspector on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. Herbert R Daniels, 1927 Harold St, was brought to police headquarters by Inspector Robert Dresslar and bail was set at $3,000. Daniels allegedly, indorsed and cashed a $50.00 check he received by mistake at a South West Portland apartment house. The check was made out to Willie A Johnson, 1710 SW 3rd Ave. Daniels was then living at that address said Dresslar and allegedly took the check from his own mailbox. The check was signed by Peter Trappen, operator of The Lotus Card Room, 932 W 3rd Ave.
