Births and deaths in Ohio were first recorded in 1867 and marriages in 1835.
I would suggest you check the 1870 and 1880 censuses for Samuel. The 1880 census is the first census that relationships were shown of family members to the head of household. Before that it was a guess who was married to, or the child of, anyone else.
In 1870 Samuel and family are in Salt Creek, Wayne Co. OH
In 1880 they are in Wooster, Wayne Co. OH where William is a sheriff and Samuel is a deputy sheriff. About 1882, Samuel married Elizabeth Jane SNAVELY, probably in Wayne County.
I am not related but I have checked this family for the last 2 hours and have a LOT of information. It appears that Samuel and his wife Elizabeth divorced in/before 1911, when she married Charles WRIGHT.
