Reason Thompson married Elizabeth Criswell on March 10, 1836 in East Union TWP, Wayne County, Ohio. The actual marriage certificate shows them as “Reson Tomson” and Elizabeth “Criteswell”. The marriage index shows Reason as “Resor” Tomson. Reason Thompson was born around 1809 one of 12 children of John Thompson and Hiley Dorland. Elizabeth Criswell, born 1818, was the daughter of James Criswell and Elisabeth Forgy Criswell. Elizabeth’s brothers were William and James F. Criswell. Many of the Thompson/Criswell descendants are buried in the Thompson and East Side Cemeteries just East of Fredericksburg, Ohio.
Reason Thompson vanishes around 1858. Elizabeth Criswell Thompson re-marries Elijah Tracy, son of Bezaleel Tracy and Mary First, on June 23, 1859 in Plaine Township, Wayne County, Ohio. Although Elijah Tracy was raised in Wayne County, he had been living with his first wife Mary Albertson, in Princeville, Peoria County, Illinois since around 1844. Elizabeth and Elijah combine their families in Princeville, Illinois where Elizabeth dies on September 22, 1885.
For a certainty, Elizabeth brought her son, my GG Grandfather, Alfred P. Thompson (b. April 1, 1851 in Ohio) along with her to Princeville. In addition, there MAY HAVE BEEN two additional children: One an Alice B. Thompson and the other Reason Benjamin Thompson.
Reason Benjamin Thompson was born December 22, 1856 in Fredericksburg, Ohio. He married Nancy Adelia Sturm on Nov. 11, 1876 in Bradford, Stark County, Illinois only a few miles from Princeville, Illinois. He died February 26, 1936 in Edmonds, Washington.
I am seeking any information regarding what happened to Reason Thompson around 1858 and his final resting place. In addition I would like to know if the Reason Benjamin Thompson who married Nancy Adelia Sturm was the son of Reason Thompson and Elizabeth Criswell. Thank you!
