We would appreciate any information that you can provide about Thompson Bishop, his wife Area (Ara, Arey) Hudson, and their children, grandchildren, and other descendents. We are trying to document the descendents of John Bishop II (1739-1828) and any information that you can provide about his grandson Thompson Bishop will certainly help.
Thompson Bishop was born 13 Apr. 1825 in Fauquier Co. VA, the son of Fenley Bishop and Nancy Milburn. Fenley Bishop was the son of John Bishop II and his second wife Catherine Iden. Thompson Bishop died 14 Jul. 1884 in Jerome Township, Union Co. OH. He is buried in Dublin Cemetery Franklin Co. OH.
Thompson Bishop married Area Hudson 26 Sep. 1850 in Dublin, Franklin Co. OH. Another source says 15 Apr. 1845. Does anyone know the correct marriage date?
Area (Ara, Arey) Hudson was born 29 Nov. 1832 in Dublin Franklin Co. OH and died 5 Dec. 1893. According to the 1850 Census of Jerome Township Union Co. OH, she was the daughter of Jacob (b. circa 1805) and Area (b. circa 1810) Hudson.
Thompson and Area Bishop had two children: James and Frank.
1. James William Bishop was born Jan. 1851 in Union Co. OH. He was living near Plain City, Madison Co. OH in 1898. He died 31 Mar. 1936 in Franklin Co. OH. James Bishop married Caroline R. Currier (Courier) circa 1870-74. Caroline was born Apr. 1856 in OH. She died in 28 Feb. 1938 in Franklin Co. OH. Her father was born in ME or VT and her mother was born in MA. James and Caroline Bishop had one child – Anna.
a. Anna J. Bishop was born Jun 1875 in Union Co. OH. She is single living with her parents in all censuses up to 1930. She is believed to have died in a long term care facility in Worthington Franklin Co. OH on 4 Sep. 1959. Curiously, her tombstone inscription shows her birth year as 1884 but we believe that may be a transcription error.
2. Frank Bishop was born circa 1859 in Union Co. OH. We are not sure that he ever married or had any children. He appears in the 1880 Census with his parents but he cannot be found in subsequent censuses. Do you have any information on Frank?
Any additional information that you can provide about Thompson Bishop, his wife Area Hudson, their sons James and Frank, and any grandchildren or other descendents would be greatly appreciated.
