Histories of Greene Township, in Trumbull County, tell that Robert Crane was a early Calvinist church minister in Greene. His son Rev. Robert W. Crane was not only a Methodist minister but was prominent as an architect of buildings constructed in Greene in the late 1870's. I do not know the ages of the two men. I am researching a RICE family and know that SUBMIT RICE married a ROBERT W. CRANE in either Nov. or Dec. 1836. I suspect this was the younger man - the minister, architect. But I am not sure. If I could learn the identity of the wives of these two men, living in Greene, the name and age of the wives, in either the 1850,1860 (or even 1870)censuses, I could likely clear up the mystery.
(I have completed a substantial amount of research in Greene Township, I have the book "The Greene Story 1817 - 1976" by Mary Case Hoskins. My Coleman ancestors came to Greene in the early 1800's. If I can be of any help to anyone, about persons who lived in Greene Township in the 1800's, feel free to call on me.) Thank you.
