Looking for any info on John Brunn, born Giovanni Brun in Andreis, Italy in approx. 1866. Emigrated to the US approx. 1882 at age 16; went first to NY then later, after working in New England, he settled for a time in Ridgway, PA in Elk County. This would have been prior to 1903.

Then, family lore has it he went West to Ohio, specifically Summit County. His name is on a cornerstone or inscription of a building in the county, also according to family history.

He was a stonemason in Italy and may have practiced that trade here.

We believe he died prior to 1941, but that is not known for certain.

We cannot locate him in any PA or OH census, or via Vital Records for OH or PA. We have his naturalization cert from PA which states the old Ridgway, PA address, but their historical society and their courthouse records show no evidence of him.

His father and mother, who remained in Italy, were named Antonio and Cristina Brun. The brothers who remained in Italy were Lutagardo, Natale and Giacomo Brun. The brothers who came to the US were Giuseppe Brun, also called Joseph Brunn, and Angelo Brun.

John was married to a Domenica Bucco, of Udine, Italy; their known children were Luigi Brun aka Louis Brunn and Silvio Brun born in Italy, and Christine Brunn, born in the US. Also, there was possibly a daughter named Italia, born in Italy.
