Anybody out there have information on the Peter Helfer Family? Peter, his wife, Catherine and five children arrived in the U.S. about 1836, temporarily settled in Stark Co., Ohio (census of 1840). Peter bought the East half of the Southeast quarter of section 16, Seneca Co.,Ohio in 1849. He and his wife remained at this location until they passed on. They had eight children grow to adulthood, five born in Europe, three in the U.S..
Their place of origin has been given as France, Germany, Bavaria etc. One daughter, Catherine stated her parents came from Wertumburg which is located adjacent to France.
The childrens names: Philip,Jacob,Peter,Elizabeth,Michael,
Catherine,William and Samuel. Samuel was my gg grandfather.
Any help at all would certainly be appreciated.
