"The remains of poor little Roy Thompson, who met his death in the Ohio river while bathing, were tenderly borne to their last resting place by six of his companions: Ervin Dair, Louis Davis, Carlos Sawyer, Willie Anderson, Hubert Vallance and Bennie Anson.
The funeral services were conducted from the Second Presbyterian church at 10:30 Wednesday morning by Dr. Charles Robertson, and interment followed in Greenlawn. There were many beautiful floral tributes." from the Portsmouth Daily Times, Wed. Sept. 4, 1912
