Rosalie M. Brockett

Rosalie M. Brockett, 95, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Hospice on Ridgewood Road in Fairlawn.
She was born January 4, 1916 in Randolph, Ohio to the late George Alvin and Mary Jessie (Williams) Brockett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cecelia Fenton; brother-in-law, William Fenton; nephew, Warren Fenton; and nephews-in-law, James Wheeler and Fred Tyson.
Rosalie graduated from St. Vincent High School and Hammel-Actual Business College in Akron. She worked for the City of Akron, H.M. Muehlstein Co. and retired from Employers Association. After her retirement she did volunteer work at St. Thomas Hospital for many years.
Rosalie designed and made hats for the wealthy women in Akron at a time when it was customary for women to wear hats. She was active with the Theatre Guild at the Jewish Center on Balch Street where she worked behind the scenes painting sets, sewing costumes and acting as a prompter to the
actors on stage. She was an avid democrat and loved a good political debate and will be remembered for her intelligence and
keen wit.
She was a life member of St. Vincent Church since the age of seven. She was God loving and faithful and had a gentle spirit.
Rosalie will be deeply missed by her nieces, Pauline (William) Bailey, Barbara (Earl) Wright, Rosalie Wheeler, Elizabeth Tyson and Rebecca (Robert) Donahue, and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Hospice for their care of Rosalie and support to the family. Special thanks go to the staff at Falls Village for their loving care and many, many kindnesses to Rosalie.
A special thank you also to Father Kraker for his many kindnesses.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., on Wednesday, July 13, from 6 to 7:30Church.
