I am looking for any info on my grandfather, Launey Frank King. His WWII registration card says he was born in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio, Nov. 20, 1889. He died in Richland County on Apr. 30 1962. But the coroners report said he was born in 1891. I called Woodsfield Probate Court today and they have no record of him being born there. I also visited Ohio and talked with a woman at the Mansfield Town Hall and she told me that she had him listed as being born in Morrow County. I called them today also and they have no record. He does not show up on any census, no birth or marriage record. He married Anna Frances Moon who was about 18 years his junior. They had 3 kids. Launey E King (my father who died when I was 4), Earl Francis? King, and George Howard King who died at 1 1/2 years old from measles. He had a step daughter, Donna Jean Moon-Allen. Father unknown. Earl ran away from home when he found out Donna was his half sister and never returned.

He also listed on the WWII card that he was a farmer on Frank Cave's Farm and listed his address and Frank Cave's Farm address as the same. The problem is I can't even find the road on a map. It is listed as Rt. 2, shelby-ontario road, 5 miles north of Crestline. I found Crestline and Shelby-Ontario Road but no Rt. 2.

Can anyone shed any light on this mystery? Only proof that he lived is the WWII card, coroner's report and an article written in the Oct. 9, 1952 Mansfield News Journal, page 9, featured article about an accident he was in. I wrote to the editor two weeks ago to find out how to get a copy of it (there is a scanned copy online but the image is black and hard to read) but he has not written back. I was also hoping for a written obit so I might be able to find out who his parents were.

I want to know who my dad was and I can't get anywhere. Please help. You can email me at I have tried everything and researched for years.

Thank you for any help.
