The 1850 Ohio Census for Monroe County shows a John R. Gibson Sr and wife Catherine Gibson. Children with dates of birth are 1. James Gibson Occupation Dentist
2. William Gibson 3. Samuel Gibson 4. Henry Gibson
5. Jan Gibson
The census stated it was for the town of Stafford Franklin Twp. It listed John Gibson's occupation as merchant and that he was born in Scotland. Many deeds with John Gibson's name are recorded in Monroe County. One such deed is Deed Book C Page 576 John Gibson & Catherine H/W to John Davenport all of Belmont County Ohio Dec. 26, 1837.

Does anyone have any information on this family? I am particularly interested in what happend to them. I can not find them in the 1860 census. Perhaps the children married about 1860. Are marriage records available for this period of time in Monroe County?
