I'm interested in the Feltenberger (Feltenbarger) family who came from Pennsylvania sometime just prior 1820. They settled in Jefferson Co., but boundary changes put them in Harrison Co. There is some info on Jacob born 1784, but he had 4 brothers, 3 of whom likely came to Harrison Co. My info says a Michael Feltenberger, a Rev. War vet, died about 1822 in Harrison Co. He had 5 sons, including Jacob. His eldest son John remained in Pennsylvania. Jacob's brother Samuel born 1787 first shows up in the 1850 census in Harrison Co. I have found no trace of Samuel prior to that. My ancestor is a Mariah Feltenberger born between 1813 & 1815, probably in Ohio. She married Phillip Olinger about 1832. I'm trying to id her father. Jacob had a daughter Maria born 1813, but she married Phillip Carroll. The 1820 census shows Jacob with 2 daughters under 10 who are Elizabeth & Maria. I'm also interested in any info on the Olinger family during this time period. My Phillip Olinger was born about 1808, most likely in Pennsylvania. He gave Pennsylvania one census, Ohio the next. I've never found any trace of an Olinger family in Harrison or Jefferson Co. prior to 1832. There was a John & his son Christian in Tuscarawas Co. which borders Harrison Co. It's possible John (born 1750's) was his grandfather, but Christian wasn't his father. I've come to the conclusion Phillip's father died at a young age as there is no trace of anyone who could be his father. Info passed down states Phillip came from Pennsylvania to Jasper Co. Ohio with his parents & married there. However, there is no Jasper Co Ohio. We've assumed this should be Jefferson Co, as that is where his first children were born.
