NANCY SHEPARD DECK was born October l8, l834, in Hancock County, Ohio. She grew to womanhood there and was married October 7, l852, to JACOB DECK. To this union were born four children, ALFRED and A.W., of Leon, Iowa; N.L., of North Yakima, Washington and JENNIE, who died in early womanhood. There also remains to mourn her loss eleven grandchildren and a host of friends. JACOB DECK preceded his wife to the better world twenty years ago.
Soon after their marriage, JACOB and NANCY DECK moved from Ohio to Indiana; from there to northern Iowa; then to southern Iowa; to Kansas, and from there to Oklahoma, when this country was first settled, and lived here most of the time until her death, April 3, l92l, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 27 days.
She joined the Brethren Church at Leon, Iowa, in l865. Later she transferred her membership to the Brethren Church near Nash, Okla., of which church she remained a faithful member until her death. Grandma DECK, as she was known to her friends as well as relatives, is gone, but not forgotten.
