Camargo Township

M. A. OVERTURF, farmer and stock-dealer, was born in Delaware County, Ohio, July 31, 1840, and is a son of William and Nancy (Falk) Overturf. He is the third in a family of nine children, and is of English descent. The parents of Mr. Overturf were natives of Ohio, and lived and died in that State. When Mr. Overturf was abaout twenty-one years of age, he began doing for himself. He was married, March 18, 1862, to Miss Amanda C. Short. Mrs. Overturf is also a native of Delaware County, Ohio. To this marriage have been born four children, viz., Nettie B., William, Grace and Maud. In 1865, Mr. Overturf left his native State and came to Douglas County, Ill., and settled where he now resides. Mr. Overturf owns nearly 500 acres of well-improved land; his residence was built in 1881, and cost almost $2,000. Mr. Overturf is a Republican, and he and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He is one of the leading farmers of Camargo Township, and one of its prominent citizens.
