Need some help locating the family of Stephen Brown who married Elizabeth Shultz October 16, 1859 in Darke County Ohio. In 1850 he, and perhaps a sister Margaret Brown, were living on the farm of George H Turpin in Greenville Township. In 1860 he and his wife, Elizabeth were living with her sister and brother-in-law, William and Mary Hunter, in Greenville Township. In 1870 and 1880 Stephen, Mary and their children farmed in Greenville Township. The 1880 census did list the birth place of his parents as New Jersey. His birth place was listed on all the censuses as Ohio. Birth dates and death dates for both Stephen and Elizabeth are not known.
The children of Stephen and Elizabeth were:
1.Orlando Brown b 11-14-1861 - moved to Colorado & married and died there.
2.Frank Brown b 5-5-1864 - moved to Richmond, Indiana abt 1904 and died there in 1931. He and his wife, Cora Etta Bennett also of Darke Co. are buried in the Old Teegarden Cemetery in Woodington.
3.Odella (Odelia) Brown b October 1865 stayed in Darke County worked in the Children's Home in Greenville. The date of her death is not known.
4.Harry Brown b July 26 1868 - moved to Colorado & married and died there.
5.Curtis Brown b abt 1870 - moved to Colorado and died there.
6.Charles Brown b abt May 1872 - Was a Blacksmith in Richland Township, Dark County for many years. He married Ally Thornton about 1902 and had one daughter Odella J (Jane?) born about 1905. Ally died before the 1920 Census. Charles was 58 on the 1930 Census and his sister Odella was living with him. His date of death is not known.
(On the 1880 census a daughter Mary E, age 19, is listed, but family lore has no info on her.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
