One lead you didn't mention in your post is that Arnold Saunders, Jr., was the informant on Laura Ann's death certificate. He was living a few blocks away in Cleveland Heights when she died. He obviously knew where she was living and must have been called by Bertha Courtney the morning Laura Ann died. Laura Ann worked in the Saunders home for over 14 years and played a great role in raising Arnold, Jr. I believe he likely had warm feelings for her. I believe he likely wrote her obituary and paid for its publication in the next day's Plain Dealer. He may also have helped provide for her care in her later years.
Anyway, it's an angle to explore if you have not done so.
