Military services with honors for James R. Jones, 68, of Willoughby, will be 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Jones died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby.
Born Aug. 17, 1940, in Kayford, W.Va., he had been a Lake County resident for the past 42 years living in Eastlake before moving to Willoughby in 1991.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of V.F.W. Post 1500 located on Pelton Road in Willoughby, American Legion Palmer-Roberts Post 214 in Willoughby, and Collinwood Memories. In his leisure time, he loved his garden and enjoyed making wine.
Mr. Jones worked at Gioia Construction Company for 25 years and was disabled in 1979.
He was the beloved husband of Sondra K. (nee Ball) Jones; loving father of James R. Jones Jr. of Willoughby and Vanessa A. Jones of Willoughby; cherished grandfather of Melisa A. Jones; brother of Randall Jones, Troy Jones, Delbert Jones, Robert Jones and John Jones; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Verna (nee Williams) Jones; and siblings, Ruby Rosen, Shelby Zagarac, Doris Jones, Virgil Jones, Charlotte Jones and Carl Jones.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
