Sally,

My connection to the Houseburg/Hausburg name is through Sophia, wife of George Washington Houpt (b. 1819). They were married about 1840 or so. We know that he came from Somerset, PA. They settled in Seneca Co., OH by 1841 and then removed to Chatfield Twp., Crawford Co., OH. Most researchers and sources say that Sophia's maiden name was Houseburg, but a few say it was Heyer. Old family stories say she was a midwife and well-loved by neighbors. George W. and Sophia Houpt were my g.g.g.g.-grandparents.

I have seen the Housburg name in published records of Crawford Co., by I do not know how or if I am connected. I will be in Richland and Crawford counties, OH the first couple weeks of Sept. and hope to do some research.

Let me know if any of this fits with your info. I can share more details if you think there may be a connection.
