Samuel Gregg was drafted into the service in the Revolutionary War and was taken to the camp of Gen.George Washington. Samuel was a member of the Society of Friends, conscientiously opposed to war and killing ,so he was excused by the General and told to go home and raise food for those who did fight. This he willingly did.Then ten years after the war in 1793 he took his family and emigrated to Ohio, settling about eight miles from Circleville, where he farmed for several years. He then moved to Belmont County, , being among its pioneers. He first engaged in farming, but afterward built a mill near the city of Belmont, which he operatedfor a few years. In 1812 he moved to Knox County, Ohio, and built a large mill near Fredricktown, which he operated and where he lived for about twenty years. He then went to Logan County, Ohio, and there he spent the remainder of his days, he died in 1840, at the age of eighty-four years. His wife also died at the same age of eighty four years. His wife was Ann Sinclair and they had 10 Children but I only know the names of two. Asa Gregg 1806- 1896 he married Catherine Drake, no wedding date and Tacy W. Gregg, who married Ezekiel True, no wedding date. I am searching for the names of the other children, I found the family in the 1820 census of Knox Co. but of course it has numbers not names. Tacy and Ezekiel may have married in Knox Co, as well as Asa and Ann, I don't have that information either. Please help if you can. They landed with the Penn Colony
